Member Spotlight: Cambridge Women’s Center
At the Women’s Center, we provide a wide range of programs and services to help women build up their self-respect and self-sufficiency, and welcome them into a caring community that understands their experiences and needs. This safe, supportive environment improves the quality of life of our visitors.
- Visitors can utilize our community kitchen stocked with nutritious food.
- We maintain two Computer Labs with internet access and one-on-one tutoring and technical support.
- Through our Crisis Helpline and Drop-in Program, trained, compassionate volunteers help women deal with crisis situations such as domestic violence, suicidal feelings and other physical dangers, and mental health problems such as anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress.
- Visitors can access our Women’s Resource Database to find information on employment programs, housing and shelter, abuse and assault, health and wellness, parenting resources, and other critical needs.
- Homeless women can utilize our Center as a daytime refuge where they are welcomed, respected and supported.
- We offer a wide variety of educational and skill-building opportunities, from English as a Second Language to yoga, financial planning, creative writing, cooking, parenting skills, and much more.
- Childcare is provided for mothers attending Center activities, in our spacious and cheerful Children’s Room stocked with toys, games, dolls, puzzles, art supplies, and multicultural books.
The Women’s Center is the only organization in Greater Boston that provides such a wide range of services and resources for women, confidentially and free of charge.
